ABOUT ASHISH SOOD
Ashish Sood (born 2nd September 1966) is an Indian politician and a leader of the BharatiyaJanata Party in Delhi. Residing in A-3/2 Janakpuri, New Delhi, 110058 with a family of five, he is considered as one of the most articulate voices of BJP and a strong local face in the JanakpuriVidhansabha area. His political journey began during his college days at Atma Ram SanatanDharamCollege(DU) where he was pursuing a degree in commerce while simultaneously being active in student politics. Since his early days, Sood was influenced by ABVP, the student union of the right wing in India. He was first elected secretary of the college then rose to the post of joint secretary of DUSU and finally president of DUSU in 1988-89. He then went on to work as a full-time worker of ABVP from 1989 to 1993. As a student leader, he spearheaded several movements against corruption in the high offices of the Central government, including the most infamous ‘Boforce Scam’ of the 80s.
In 2002, he joined the BharatiyaJanataYuvaMorcha, first as the Vice President of Delhi unit and then became the General Secretary in 2003 and finally the national Vice President in 2005. In 2012, he was then elected as a councillor of South MCD. He also acted as the chairperson of the Remunerative Project (RP) Cell, twice where he has also served as the Leader of the House and a member of the standing committee. As chairperson of RP Cell, he reformed advertising and parking policy of the corporation under which only registered vendors were allowed to participate in the tender process. His other public services include illumination of every remote corner of Janakpuri with street lights which made Janakpuri easily accessible at nights for women and children. In his tenure, Janakpuri received first-class basic amenities; roads were mended; infrastructure like boundary walls and berms were renovated. He is also known for his work for senior citizens, sending them on TeerthYatras and starting free Health checkup camps & ^^eksfr;kfcanvkWijs’kuf’kfoj** etc. He was also appointed as the chairperson of the education committee and launched several beneficiary projects like NEEV or the Lenovo Tablet Yojana. It was due to sustained efforts, the prominent corporate sectors came forward to invest their CSR funds in South MCD schools. As a proactive leader of the masses he has kept all public touchpoints open including digital media.
